Tutorials for creating user interface elements in AI

New designers always ask when creating user interfaces, which software to use. Many of them choose Adobe’s Photoshop or other bitmap editing software. However a vector editing program like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape is maybe a better choice. Why?

Let’s see an example. You’ve created a user interface about two years ago. Since then, we have new iPhones, iPads with Retina Display. When an Apple product has Retina display, each user interface widget is doubled in width and height to compensate for the smaller pixels. This means, that you have to change the new user interface for these devices.

If you created this user interface with a bitmap editing software, probably you need to start over to create the needed elements with the new resolution. If you created with a vector editing software, then you just need to export with the new settings and you’re done.

We show you a couple of tutorials for creating user interface design in Adobe illustrator.
